Unitil Corporation, (Unitil.com), a provider of natural gas and electricity to customers in New England, made significant progress in restoring power overnight to customers impacted by Saturday’s severe spring storm.
As of 6 a.m. approximately 1,475 Unitil customers were without power, down from a system-wide peak of 11,280 early Sunday morning. The vast majority of Unitil customers still without power reside in and around Concord, NH which saw the biggest impact from the storm. Unitil expects to have power restored for the remaining customers by Tuesday morning with the potential for some single service issues and isolated pockets of customers extending later into the day.
“Crews worked tirelessly overnight to address extensive damage to wires, poles and other infrastructure,” Unitil External Affairs Director Alec O’Meara said. “A fresh batch of our own crews will be joined by a contingent from Vermont this morning to continue tackling these issues and restoring power for all of our customers.”
Unitil’s outage map at Unitil.com/map is being updated regularly with estimated restoration times for specific outages throughout the region as crews work through the area. Should new outages occur, the map will update in real time with estimated restoration times for these issues as well as they become available.
Unitil will be communicating throughout the event through Public Service Announcements (PSAs), our website, our customer call center and through the media. We also encourage customers to follow along with our storm updates via Facebook, our Twitter feed (@Unitil) and we will be providing real-time outage information online at unitil.com/map.
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR MEDIA: Unitil asks that when reporting outage information, outlets time stamp the information. Outage numbers change hourly and we wish to make sure the information customers receive is consistent and understandable. Re-Tweets and re-posting of old information without referencing a time can create confusion.
Customers experiencing outages should call 1-888-301-7700.
