Welcome, Bangor Natural Gas!

Unitil has agreed to acquire Bangor Natural Gas (BNG) and its central Maine distribution system.

Currently, Unitil provides natural gas to Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. We are excited to bring Unitil’s top-tier customer experience and New England approach to the greater Bangor area. By integrating BNG operations, we believe the customers, employees, and communities will be well-served as we continue to work with the state in reaching Maine's climate goals.

We look forward to serving you.

What to Expect?

The Maine Public Utilities Commission may take six months or longer to review the acquisition to ensure there is no compromise in the safety, reliability, or quality of service resulting from this transaction. We expect to hear the outcome of this review by early 2025. Once available, we will provide additional information and links to the filing here.

In the meantime, BNG customers should expect no changes to their existing service and should continue to use current BNG customer service numbers for any account questions.

Customers will receive direct notifications about any updates or changes, including future changes to customer account numbers.
