COVID-19 Update: 03/30/20

Maintenance Pruning

  • Our forestry personnel and partner line-clearance tree pruning vendors will NOT be knocking on your door to notify you of tree pruning maintenance work. You will be getting an automated call when work is scheduled for your area.
  • If you have questions, concerns, or want to talk to someone before the work is done, press option 2 after the recording to be directed to a voicemail box.
  • Customers will be contacted directly by forestry personnel to discuss and approve any tree removals over 8” diameter before they are removed.
  • Ribbons left on risk trees by forestry personnel are to aid in the identification and discussion of removal possibility.  Removal will not occur without property owner discussion first.

Customer Requests for Pruning or Tree Removal

  • At the time you make the customer service request, please mark the trees in question with a ribbon, or whatever you have handy.
  • When calling customer service, please leave a preferred call back phone number so we can ask you questions about the desired work.
  • Our forestry personnel will not be knocking on your door, if we have any questions, we will be contacting you by phone.
  • If work to be done requires consent from you, we will obtain an email address to send paperwork electronically for you to sign and return.  If you do not have an email address, we will ask to record you giving verbal consent.
  • Please respond promptly to any work verification emails or calls if asked.
  • In general, you do not need to be present when the crew arrives to do the work.
  • If for any reason, you are outside or otherwise meet our forestry personnel in person, please practice social distancing by keeping at least 6 feet away.

The following illustrations are examples of the proper directional pruning for shade and ornamental trees:

Side Pruning
enlarge Side Pruning

We strive to trim vegetation to approximately 10 feet back from electrical wire. This pruning is conducted pole to pole.

Overhead Pruning
enlarge Overhead Pruning

Typically we trim 15 feet above the wires on top of the poles. Greater clearance may be required depending upon tree species and location.

Ground cut
enlarge Ground Cut

Ground cutting includes the removal of small trees and brush 8 inches in diameter or less for species that have the capacity to grow into the wires.

Under Pruning

We cut along the ground to remove small trees. For larger trees, we keep a four-foot radius below and around the lowest wire attachment by pruning and removing deadwood or hazardous branches.
