Budget Billing
Unitil’s Budget Billing Program allows residential customers to enjoy the convenience of fixed monthly payments throughout the year. Because energy bills fluctuate as your energy use keeps pace with changes in the weather or household, budgeting can be challenging for families with a fixed income.
Your monthly budget payment amount is calculated based on actual gas or electric charges for the same period of the previous year, and your account will be reviewed quarterly to ensure your monthly payments are sufficient for your current usage. Click here to learn how to request enrollment online. A member of our Customer Service team will verify eligibility, estimate your monthly budget amount, and confirm your enrollment in the program.
Payment Plans
Unitil recognizes that carrying a past-due balance can feel overwhelming at times, and we’re here to help you take control of outstanding energy costs with a variety of payment plans. By allowing you to make payments over an extended period, we’ll lower the overall month-to-month impact and create a manageable path forward for your family. Eligible customers can select a payment plan of 3 or 6 months in length; the past due amount will be divided by the number of months selected and added to your current charges each month. Customers enrolled in a financial hardship program should call us at 1-888-301-7700 to discuss an extended payment plan.
