Electric & Gas Service

Unitil provides electric and gas service to specific regions of Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and natural gas to specific regions in Maine. Not sure if you’re in our territory? View our service areas.

Bangor Region Gas Customers: Please contact our Bangor office using the online form or by calling 1-207-941-9595.

Start Service

On the MyUnitil landing page, scroll down to the "Are you a new customer?" section and select the appropriate form. For existing properties, fill out the "Application for New Service." For new construction properties, fill out the "Contractor Request Form."

Transfer/Move or Stop Service

Log in to your MyUnitil account. From the "Account Services" tab found on the left-hand side navigation, you can transfer or disconnect your service.

To transfer/move your service, you will be required to pay any outstanding arrears balance on the account before the transfer request can be processed. 

Unitil currently provides natural gas to communities in Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, but it is not currently available in all locations. View our service areas to see if there is natural gas service in your town or city. Call us toll-free at 1-888-486-4845 to check availability on your street, or check the map on our Switch to Gas page.

While Unitil does not provide customers with solar panels, we allow (and in fact, encourage!) you to generate your own renewable energy in parallel with our electric system. Customers who generate more electricity than they need can push that electricity back out through their meters as a surplus, saving money on their electric bill.

Bangor Region Gas Customers: While we work to integrate your accounts, please do not use the MyUnitil website. Instead, visit the Bangor Region Customer Portal here or contact our Bangor office using the online form or by calling 1-207-941-9595 with payment questions.

As a Unitil customer, you can choose from a variety of flexible payment options. Please note that while most of our options are free, some incur a small processing fee. If you would like to pay your bill for free, you can do so through your MyUnitil account or pay as a guest. You can also enroll in our convenient automatic bank draft option (UniPay).

Alternatively, you can pay by mail, in person at your nearest Western Union location, or over the phone (call 1-888-301-7700).
