Unitil Corporation, (www.unitil.com), a provider of natural gas and electricity to customers throughout New England, will have power back on to customers this morning following a severe line of thunderstorms which knocked out power to customers last night in all regions.
As of 4:30 AM approximately 62 of Unitil’s 100,900 electricity customers were without power, down from a peak of 7,200 last night. Of those, approximately 7 customers are out in Unitil’s Concord, New Hampshire service territory, 31 are out in North Central Massachusetts and 24 are out in the New Hampshire Seacoast area.
“Due to a high volume of individual troubles, restoration efforts went through the night and into this morning,” Unitil media relations manager Alec O’Meara said. “Unitil opened its system-wide emergency response center in order to coordinate simultaneous efforts in all three of its non-contiguous territories. I take my hat off to the crews who worked long hours last night to get the lights back on for our customers, and I thank our customers for their patience.”
As restoration nears completion, the possibility remains that customers with individual service issues may still be without power. Customers still without power who see service restored to their street or their immediate neighbors should call Unitil customer service immediately.
Customers experiencing outages should call the following toll-free numbers:
For Massachusetts: 888-301-7700
For the NH Capital Area: 800-852-3339
For the NH Seacoast Area: 800-582-7276
In the event of any outage, Unitil will work quickly and efficiently to restore power. In the meantime, we ask for our customers' patience and understanding while we work on restoration and we will provide regular updates to local media outlets regarding progress. General updates regarding outages and restoration will also be available though Unitil’s Website, www.unitil.com and Unitil’s Twitter feed.
