Unitil has restored the majority of its customers across all service territories – as of 10:00 p.m. more than 99% have power. Some individual service issues and isolated pockets of customer outages remain; these are the focus of crews working overnight until we achieve total restoration on Wednesday.
Unitil will close its system-wide Emergency Response Center (EOC) in Hampton, New Hampshire later this evening, but regional EOCs will remain open until every customer is restored.
At the peak of the storm approximately 70,000 of Unitil’s 103,000 electric customers system wide were reporting no power. More than 300 crews from as far away as Michigan, Pennsylvania and Canada worked diligently to restore power to the majority of customers in under 72 hours.
“We’re pleased the vast majority of our customers are back on, and we’re deeply grateful to our crews, employees, emergency responders, elected officials and even to those who used Twitter to communicate with us,” Unitil Director of Emergency Management Richard Francazio said. “Our crews will work through the night on all remaining customer outages before heading out to help neighboring utilities.”
As restoration continues, there will be areas where an individual service or small groups may be out after neighbors have been restored. If there are customers still without power who see service restored to their street or to their immediate neighbors, they should call Unitil customer service immediately. Some individual customer issues may require work from a private electrician before restoration can occur.
