The Unitil electric crews left with the expectation that once complete in Rhode Island, they will be redeployed again in another state to continue to assist with restoration. Unitil electric crews also assisted other utilities with restoration following the October snowstorm a year ago.
“I continue to be in awe of the service linemen and gas technicians who respond to these catastrophic weather events,” Unitil Media Relations Manager Alec O’Meara said. “Just as we have relied on the aid of other contractors to restore power to our own customers, our crews will go out and return the favor for other regions. The storm might be over for our customers, but the work will continue for several days for these dedicated crews.”
Outside of its own crews, Unitil has released the third party resources it used in the storm to assist Public Service of New Hampshire and United Illuminating Company in Connecticut. Unitil will remain in contact with other utilities in the region and will assist however possible.
