Company extending pipeline into Brentwood

Unitil Corp. expects to wrap up a six-month project next month that will extend its natural gas pipeline into the west side of Exeter and stretching into Brentwood.

The Hampton-based gas and electric service provider is installing 20,000 feet of new gas main along Route 27 from Brookside Drive to Pine Road.

Unitil Media Relations Manager Alec O’Meara said the company has approximately 4,000 feet - less than a mile - remaining of the expansion project.

The expansion, which began in August, will provide what Unitil has described as an affordable alternative to other more expensive heating options.

“Our project remains on schedule and town officials have been great to work with throughout this process. We are excited to be bringing gas to new customers, and we appreciate the patience of everyone traveling on Route 27 while we’ve been working to get this pipe in the ground,” O’Meara said.

The project recently crossed town line into Brentwood, representing first Unitil pipeline installed in that neighboring town.
