Unitil raised a record $46,095 through its United Way employee-giving campaign. The company has supported this annual drive for 25 years and, this year, added a winter warmth collection drive.
Unitil employees’ donations help families stay warm, fed, and housed, provide children with learning resources, fund job-certification programs, support seniors with home-delivered meals, and give access to mental health counseling and emergency shelter, among many other vital community services.
“We are so thankful for our employees who really stepped up, not only providing ongoing support through United Way, but also donating over 600 winter hats, mittens, and scarves,” said Unitil’s External Affairs Manager Amanda Vicinanzo. “This generosity makes a real difference in the communities where we live and work.”
In addition to its annual United Way campaign, the company coordinated Warmth Collection Drives that collected 653 winter clothing items and 88 meals. These contributions benefited the following organizations: Friends of Forgotten Children, Concord; St. Vincent de Paul, Exeter; St. Vincent de Paul Clothes Closet and Food Pantry, Hampton; Gather, Portsmouth; Hollis Community Pantry and Community Closet, Portland, Maine; The Gathering Place Warming Shelter & Mid-Coast Hunger Prevention Program, Brunswick, Maine; Wellspring Ecumenical Food Cupboard, Bangor, Maine; and North Star Family Services, Lunenburg, Mass.
Through employee contributions and company donations, Unitil supports the work of Granite United Way (NH), United Way of Southern Maine, Heart of Maine United Way (Bangor), United Way of Mid-Coast Maine, and United Way of North Central Massachusetts. Employees also donate their time to United Way initiatives, including the Day of Caring and other opportunities throughout the year.
“Thanks to our employees' generosity, teamwork, and heart, the collection bins overflowed, which will help hundreds of families,” said Kristen Anderson, Unitil’s community engagement professional.
