Unitil’s restoration effort made significant progress Monday morning, with approximately 6,000 customers system wide currently still without power, down more than 75 percent from our peak outage number of 27,000. Unitil crews and third-party contractors will continue to work to restore power throughout the day today, with the majority of customers expected to have power restored by the end of Monday. Customers in extensively damaged areas such as the New Hampshire seacoast region and individual service issues may see outages beyond Monday.
At noontime, approximately 6,000 of Unitil’s 103,000 electric customers system wide are reporting outages, down from a peak of 27,000. Of those customers, 750 of Unitil’s 28,000 customers in Massachusetts are without power and 5,250 of Unitil’s 75,000 customers in New Hampshire are without power. Approximately 3,900 of the New Hampshire customers are in the New Hampshire seacoast region, with the rest in the Concord, New Hampshire area.
“Over 95 percent of Unitil customers currently have power, but there is still significant work to do to bring the remaining customers online,” Unitil Media Relations Manager Alec O’Meara “I’d like to commend the crews we’ve brought in from as far as Illinois, Tennessee and Canada for their assistance in keeping the lights on for our customers.”
Unitil will continue to work quickly and efficiently to restore power to customers. In the meantime, we ask for our customers’ patience and understanding should there be a disruption in power, and we will provide regular updates to local media outlets, online and though Unitil’s Twitter feed regarding progress. As restoration nears completion, the possibility remains that customers with individual service issues may still be without power. Customers still without power who see service restored to their street or their immediate neighbors should call Unitil customer service immediately.
