Unitil Corporation, (www.unitil.com), a provider of natural gas and electricity to customers in New England, has restored power to more than 99% of customers impacted by the severe wind event yesterday.
As of 8:00 p.m., approximately 466 customers are without power, down from a peak of approximately 33,715 Monday morning. Of the remaining customers out, approximately 428 of those customers are in the Capital region and 38 on the Seacoast.
Customers who are still without power, particularly if nearby homes have power re
stored, should call customer service or use their mobile device to report an outage.
"Although we have made substantial progress in the Capital and Seacoast regions today, there is always the possibility of isolated pockets of customers and individual service outages. Crews will continue to work tirelessly throughout the evening until all outages are restored. We appreciate the tireless work of our crews, municipal officials and the patience of our customers during this restoration process."
Unitil VP of Communications and Public Affairs, Carol Valianti
Unitil will be communicating throughout the event through Public Service Announcements (PSAs), our website, our customer call center and through the media. We also encourage customers to follow along with our storm updates via Facebook, our Twitter feed (@Unitil) and we will be providing real-time outage information online at www.unitil.com/map.
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR MEDIA: Unitil asks that when reporting outage information, outlets time stamp the information. Outage numbers change hourly and we wish to make sure the information customers receive is consistent and understandable. Re-Tweets and re-posting of old information without referencing a time can create confusion.
Customers experiencing outages should call the following toll-free numbers:
