Gas technicians remain on scene this morning to notify and re-light the remaining commercial customers as businesses open this morning. Re-lights are expected to be completed by noontime.

Approximately 300 natural gas customers in Salem lost service yesterday morning following damage caused by a third party contractor. Gas service was shut off to the area at approximately 11:30 a.m. in order to make the area safe and begin repairs.

"Our gas techs will remain on scene until all customers have had service restored, so if a customer arrives at their home or business and still needs service, they should reach out immediately. We’d like to thank first responders in Salem for helping ensure public safety and to make this restoration as seamless as possible for our customers," said Unitil's Media Relations Manager Alec O’Meara.
