Restoration is ongoing in the wake of a severe thunderstorm Saturday evening, with less than 350 customers without power this morning.
According to the reports in the wake of the storms, strong wind gusts and a high volume of lightning strikes occurred during the event, causing the high volume of outages. At peak approximately 12,500 customers were impacted. As of 9 a.m., approximately 350 customers are without power, with most of the remaining customers out in the Boscawen/Chichester, NH area.
Restoration will continue through the day today as fresh crews replace the crews who worked the overnight hours.
“Crews did an outstanding job picking up the majority of customers overnight and we are moving into the final phase of this restoration, picking up individual street and home outages.” Unitil Media Relations Manager Alec O’Meara said. “If you are still without power and your neighborhood has been restored, call customer service to make sure your outage is in the system.”
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR MEDIA: Unitil asks that when reporting outage information, outlets time stamp the information. Outage numbers change hourly and we wish to make sure the information customers receive is consistent and understandable. Re-Tweets and re-posting of old information without referencing a time can create confusion.
