Restoration To Be Completed In Massachusetts Today

Single service issues may go into the afternoon hours

Unitil Corporation, (www.unitil.com), a provider of natural gas and electricity to customers in New England, expects to be down to single service issues by midday today.

As of 5:30 AM, approximately 220 customers are without power, down from a peak of 29,000. Unitil completed its restoration in New Hampshire last night.

A compliment of approximately 50 crews, comprised of bucket, tree and wires down personnel, worked to restore power through the storm on Thursday and continued through the night as part of the restoration effort. Unitil expects to have the majority of the remaining customers on by noon today, though some single service issues may extend into the afternoon.

“Our crews worked aggressively overnight to restore a majority of the remaining outages,” Unitil Media Relations Manager Alec O’Meara said. “With fresh crews this morning we will address the single service issues that still remain until we have all customers back on.”

As restoration is ongoing, customers are urged to call into customer service or to report if they remain without power, especially if they see others in their street or neighborhood get restored.

Unitil will be communicating throughout the event through Public Service Announcements (PSAs), our website, our customer call center and through the media.  We also encourage customers to follow along with our storm updates via Facebook, our Twitter feed (@Unitil) and we will be providing real-time outage information online at www.unitil.com/map.
