Unitil Corporation, (www.unitil.com), a provider of natural gas and electricity to customers in New England, will be replacing 5,600 feet of pipe on Gorham Road between Maple Ave and Route 1 in Scarborough Maine as part of a coordinated effort with the Town of Scarborough.

The replacement work is being done to relocate an existing pipeline in advance of a planned Municipal Roadway Improvement Project on Gorham Road in this same area later this year. The gas pipeline work is expected to begin mid-April and last through the end of June.  During construction activities, speeds will be reduced to 25mph within the work zones and heavy truck traffic will be detoured to Haigis Parkway and Payne Road.

"We’ve been working closely with town officials to minimize disruption where possible and will continue to do so, but we do recommend seeking alternative routes while construction is ongoing. Our plan is to work efficiently and to have our line out of the way in time for this important road improvement project to begin."

Alec O’Meara, Unitil Media Relations Manager

Unitil has hired TRI-MONT Engineering, Co. to provide Project Management services for this effort and our Contractors will be PL Enerserv and Enterprise Trenchless Tech, Inc. (ETTI).
