Unitil, (www.unitil.com), a provider of natural gas and electricity to customers throughout New England, will continue to monitor the forecasted track of Hurricane Joaquin, though new guidance indicates the storm will remain out to sea for the region.
According to the most recent forecasts tracking Joaquin, the storm will veer eastward over the weekend as it approaches, staying far enough away from land to limit impact. Normal operations are expected, though Unitil will continue to watch the forecast and will be prepared to escalate response should the forecast change again.
“Joaquin is currently a massive storm that demands close attention,” Unitil Media Relations Manager Alec O’Meara said. “Current forecasts show a significant change in the overall impact, but we will continue to watch how the track unfolds and will be prepared should things change again.”
Gusty winds unrelated to Joaquin may cause scattered outages this weekend. Should outages occur, Unitil will be communicating throughout restoration efforts through our website, our customer call center and through the media. We also encourage customers to follow along via Facebook and our Twitter feed (@Unitil), and will be providing real-time outage information online at www.unitil.com/map.
