Unitil currently estimates it will restore power to the majority of its customers in New Hampshire tonight and the majority of customers in Massachusetts by morning following a long duration wind event that impacted that area all day today. Some isolated pockets and single service issues in Massachusetts may continue into the late morning tomorrow.
As of approximately 9 p.m., approximately 820 customers are without power, down from a peak of approximately 3,000. Of those, approximately 340 customers are out in Central Massachusetts, with 370 out on the New Hampshire Seacoast and 110 in the Capital region of New Hampshire.
"Fresh crews will continue to work the remaining outages during the overnight hours, and forecasts indicate we’ve seen the worst of the winds at this point. We’ll continue to work all remaining issues until we have everyone back on, at which point we will resume normal operations. I take my hat off to all of the crews who worked this long duration wind event in extremely difficult conditions."
