Heywood Hospital will realize over $29,000 in annual natural gas savings by upgrading to energy-efficient equipment.
“Projects like this help businesses use energy more efficiently, which is beneficial not only for the organization, but their customers," said John DiNapoli, municipal and community manager for Unitil.
The hospital received a $64,320 rebate through Unitil for the $228,000 project, which upgraded 13 pieces of equipment in the kitchen and other areas. The project also included a sophisticated custom exhaust system that captures heat from the kitchen and reuses it to heat the building.
“This was a great project for the hospital. It not only created a more comfortable work environment for our employees, but as an added bonus it will save us money,” said Mike Grimmer, vice president of support services at Heywood Hospital.
