Emergency Operations Center to Close At 2 P.M.

Unitil resumes normal operations, crews will continue to stand by

Unitil Corporation, (www.unitil.com), a provider of natural gas and electricity to customers in New England, is returning to normal operations as of 2 p.m. after icing conditions failed to materialize in its service area during the day today.

According to the most recent forecasts, total additional icing is not expected to exceed .05 of an inch during the closing hours of the storm. No outages have been reported on Unitil’s system thus far today, though wind gusts approaching 40 mph are possible during the overnight hours.

“Thankfully, temperatures trended colder throughout the day today making this primarily a sleet event as opposed to freezing rain,” Unitil Media Relations Manager Alec O’Meara said. “Crews will continue to stand by through the closing hours of the event, and we encourage everyone to stay off the roads until conditions improve.”
