With cooler weather right around the corner, residents and businesses are being encouraged to take advantage of energy saving ideas and resources through Mass Save, an initiative of gas and electric utilities that provides energy efficiency information and incentives.
“Mass Save’s website has really helpful information on how residents and businesses can use energy more efficiently, said Becky Scott, program coordinator for Unitil, a participating utility in the initiative.
According to Scott, there are numerous no- or low-cost programs that help homeowners, renters and businesses manage energy costs and be more comfortable all year round. One of the programs includes home energy assessments, which incorporate smart energy-saving improvements.
Consumers can also get lighting and appliance information, as well as incentives on a wide range of ENERGY STAR® products. In addition, there are incentives and advice on heat, hot water, and central AC systems.
“Saving energy can be as simple as taking advantage of special in-store pricing on ENERGY STAR-qualified compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs),” added Scott. “By changing over to CFL light bulbs, the average homeowner can save nearly $200 per year in electric savings.”
Consumers are encouraged to visit masssave.com or give Unitil a call at 888-301-7700 to learn about the programs.
