The residents of Pearl Brook Apartments received an early Christmas present yesterday: brand new refrigerators, compliments of Unitil.
“What a great way to kick off the holiday season, thanks to our partner Unitil,” said Gene Capoccia, executive director of the Lunenburg Housing Authority.
The 48-unit complex on White Street, for senior citizens and handicapped individuals, is being renovated and receiving energy efficiency improvements. According to Capoccia, they worked with Unitil to secure 46 Energy Star® refrigerators, which use approximately seventy percent less energy than the old appliances, saving the housing authority nearly $9,000 annually.
“It’s a great program and we are glad we could help. Not only will the new refrigerators make the residents’ lives a little easier, but these new fridges will help make these units even more energy efficient,” said John DiNapoli, municipal and community services manager for Unitil.
