Mentor Program Supports Career Development

The program is designed to empower professional development and foster meaningful connections.

Unitil’s Voluntary Mentoring Program launched in 2023 to support the career development of employees by providing opportunities to learn about another area of the organization and make meaningful connections through a mentor.

This annual program pairs mentors and mentees to create a collaborative relationship for the purpose of growth, learning, career development, and relationship building. The mentor role advises, trains, guides, and supports the development of their mentee. The mentee role commits to self-development, openly sharing goals and challenges, and actively seeking feedback.

Following kickoff and orientation, mentor/mentee pairs spend approximately one hour per month together. Pairs are encouraged to discuss and agree to how information will be shared at the start of their mentoring period.   

In its inaugural year, 40 employees participated.
