Massachusetts Rate Relief for Residential Customers

As part of ongoing efforts to reduce current energy bill impacts, Massachusetts customers will see the following relief in their upcoming energy bills pending DPU approval.

We know that energy affordability is important to our customers, and we continuously work with regulators, elected officials, and others to address energy affordability.

Residential Gas Rate Adjustment

Bill reductions of 10% for natural gas usage from February 1 - March 31, 2026.

Dual-Service Customers

If you are a dual-service residential customer (you receive both gas and electric service from Unitil), you will receive both the gas and electric rate adjustments.

Residential Gas Rate Adjustment

Unitil, in collaboration with the Healey-Driscoll Administration, will reduce rates by 10% for your natural gas use from February 1 - March 31, 2026.

Residential Electric Rate Adjustment

The Healey-Driscoll Administration is providing $180 million in funding to help reduce residential electric bills this winter. Rates will be reduced by 25%* for your electricity use from February 1 - March 31, 2026.

We currently offer a discount rate and arrearage management program for income-eligible residential customers, a budget billing program to avoid seasonal spikes in energy bills, and flexible payment arrangements to help those who have fallen behind.

Alternative Rates

Heat Pump Rate

As a Residential Massachusetts Electric customer, you have a few rate options based on your electrification adoption and income. Our new rate class gives customers using heat pumps a reduced distribution rate during the winter months (November - April).
