Every employee at Unitil has a part in making sure we provide safe, reliable and customer-friendly service to our customers every day. Unitil employees are also assigned an emergency response role to meet our customers’ and communities’ needs during an emergency, like a hurricane, blizzard, or other major interruption of service. Here, we profile a few of our employees and their “Double Duty” assignment.
What do you do at Unitil?
I am a Plant Accountant in the Accounting Department. I am responsible for managing the assets for Unitil's Maine and New Hampshire natural gas operations.
What is your storm assignment?
I am a part of the Logistics team working as an External Resource Coordinator. My job begins before the storm or weather event has occurred. I am responsible for contacting outside contractors to ensure that we have the man-power and resources to ensure timely restoration of power.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your storm duty job?
Luckily (knock on wood) since I have been with the company and in my storm role, we have not had a severe weather event that has required my full participation. However, it gives me a sense of satisfaction knowing that my team has contacted and secured the resources to ensure that the company is putting forth our best efforts to restore power for our customers.
What do you like most about working at Unitil?
The people here have created a comfortable and unique work environment. The sense of community allows for me to get to know people in all aspects of the company and other DOCs.
What’s your definition of “energy for life”?
Energy has been and continues to be the source of everything we do in our daily lives, and I am happy to work for a company that believes this.
What’s something funny your co-workers don’t know about you?
Given my not so shy personality, I have most likely already shared the most embarrassing and funny facts about myself with my co-workers!
