Unitil is performing essential work activities to ensure the safety and reliability of our natural gas system.

In the coming weeks you may see crews in your area working on municipal projects that are scheduled. This will be a combination of street and individual service work, which may require access or entry to a building or residence. Maintaining the health and safety of Unitil’s technicians, contractors and our customers are of equal priority. Here are safety measures we’ve implemented to protect everyone:

  • Every Unitil technician and contractor personnel will undergo a health screening at the start of each shift.
  • All Unitil personnel and contractors entering customer’s homes will be equipped with the proper personnel protective equipment which includes, face coverings, eye protection, nitrile gloves and protective suits.
  • All Unitil personnel and contractors will be required to use Company approved hand-sanitizer before entering any customer residence or business.
  • All surfaces in the workspace, which will be disturbed by the work activity, will be cleaned using sanitizing spray or wipes.
  • All tools will be disinfected with sanitizing spray or wipes before entering any customer residence or business.
  • All Unitil personnel and contractors will follow social distancing protocols by maintaining at least six-feet of separation at all times.
  • Unitil personnel and contractors will use customer screening protocols to identify locations with positive COVID-19 cases or locations under quarantine. Work at these locations will be rescheduled. 
  • All Unitil technicians and contractor personnel are in an on-going testing protocol for COVID-19.
