Energy Star® is a dynamic government/industry partnership introduced by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 1992. They offer businesses and consumers energy efficient solutions, saving money while protecting the environment for future generations.
It is a voluntary labeling program designed to identify and promote high quality, energy-efficient products. Using less energy saves you money, decreases the overall demand of the energy grid, and ultimately benefits the environment. You'll find the Energy Star label on products that exceed existing energy performance guidelines for energy efficiency, including home appliances and audio equipment, office equipment, compact fluorescent lamps and fixtures, air conditioners, furnaces and windows. In addition, office buildings, universities and schools, and retail centers can now qualify for the label.
Unitil promotes Energy Star-labeled products through its electric energy efficiency programs and rebates, available for our Massachusetts and New Hampshire electric customers. Natural gas customers are encouraged to learn more about our gas-related energy efficiency programs and rebates here.
