GAS EMERGENCIES

CUSTOMER SERVICE

At Unitil, we take pride in our customer service and understanding that every customer's energy needs are unique. Our Customer Energy Solutions team works one-on-one with local businesses, residents and municipalities to find the energy efficiency opportunities that work best for their specific situation. Here are some of the very best examples of these relationships in action.

August 26, 2014

Smuttynose Brewery partnered with Unitil to include energy efficient technology in its new brew house. By taking advantage of Unitil's energy efficiency programs, Smuttynose is saving more than 11 million kWh over the lifetime of its equipment - that's enough to power 1,500 homes for a year. The amount of carbon dioxide Smuttynose is removing from the atmosphere is the equivalent of planting 313,444 trees.

August 21, 2014

Working closely with Unitil, CMCC converted its largest buildings to natural gas service during the summer of 2013, eliminating the college's reliance on oil and propane for heat and hot water. CMCC saved $158,000 in heating costs in their first winter heating season by converting to natural gas.

As in many old New England cities and towns, the municipal buildings in Fitchburg, Gardner, Ashby, Lunenburg and Townsend had old and inefficient heating and lighting equipment. Unitil worked closely with these municipalities to secure energy efficiency incentives through its MassSave Programs. In addition to providing these rebates/incentives, Unitil offered expert advice on the type of equipment that would qualify. Since 2011, Unitil has completed 25 separate municipal energy efficiency projects, from lighting to heating, for all four of the communities Unitil serves with electricity.

October 4, 2013

The Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School (Monty Tech) investment of $3.5 million for a new automated heating and cooling system and LED lighting is realizing significant energy savings for the Fitchburg‐based school, which serves 18 communities. The original heating, ventilation and air‐conditioning systems dated back to 1971, when the school was built. Unitil worked closely with Monty Tech to secure energy efficiency incentives through its suite of Mass Save programs. In addition to providing these rebates/incentives, Unitil offered expert advice on the type of equipment that would qualify.
